LAHORE: The Urban Unit in collaboration with iCube (Peace University, US) is organising the ‘Startup Challenge Summer ’17’ to invite creative and imaginative highbrows from any background, including entrepreneurs, to come up with ideas having problem-resolving potential addressing any possible scenario and efficient solutions capable of addressing the problem catering any sector or area.
It provides a forum where best startup ideas in town shall be pitched to an audience from multiple disciplines, judges and investors; which is open to all.
Contestants are required to submit their ideas at urbanunit.gov.pk/UU/SCS17 by August 19 after which no idea shall be entertained.
Selected teams shall be invited at the aforementioned forum for presentation (pitching) of their ideas at Alhamra on August 27.
Top 4 idea proposers shall have a grand opportunity to materialise their ideas based on subsequent face-to-face negotiations and deliberations.
Talking to Daily Times, The Urban Unit Chief Executive Officer said, “The purpose of the Startup Challenge Summer ’17 is to provide a platform to youngsters to present their talent and ideas in front of audience and investors. The Urban Unit in collaboration with iCube will help materialize their ideas.”
“We have given around 27 sample areas of interest but people if think that they can bring better ideas so they should submit to us without waste time.”
Land use / development, urban planning, environment, air, water, waste management, public welfare, urban design, architecture, distribution networks, energy, logistics, zoning, economic development, transportation & traffic, urban farming, technology, finance & e-commerce, law & order, social sector, healthcare, academics, urban lifestyles, cottage industries, retail markets, commerce & industry, urbanization and infrastructure are some areas of interest as samples for people, he added.
