ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has appointed Sanaullah Awan, a grade 20 officer of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), as its new secretary general in place of Khalid Rehmani who had tendered his resignation last month. PTF president Salim Saifullah, in accordance with the constitutional authority vested in his office, approved the appointment. It follows acceptance of Rehmani’s resignation. The former secretary had recently lost his father and expressed an inability to be away from Karachi any more. Awan has a vast and varied experience in sports, professional management and administration. He is presently CDA’s executive director general sports, having also served as president of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, Pakistan Martial Arts Association and the Islamabad Volleyball Association.
His affiliation with tennis and table tennis in the CDA goes back many years and he developed several sports facilitiesin his CDA role. “My appointment is a challenge,” Awan said. “I will work for betterment of tennis and my main focus will be conducting training camps for the youth.” He added that there would be a national level tournament organised in Islamabad every month and that he will try to make several tennis courts functional in the city.
