SUKKUR: Sindh Bank Ghotki district in connivance with agriculture department has embezzled subsidy of around Rs 159.6 million on distribution of more than 532 tractors to growers.

According to details, agriculture department Ghotki had to deliver tractors to growers with a subsidy of Rs 300,000 on each machine.

But reportedly all tractors were delivered only on papers and not a single tractor was physically given.

An official of Sindh Bank Ghotki stated on condition of anonymity that the dealers had to collect pay orders from expected growers for delivery and later was entitled to receive a subsidy price from the Sindh government.

The record exposed that the agriculture department, bank officials and dealer have deceitfully claimed subsidy from the government without delivery of tractors.

Sindh Bank area manager and tractors dealer obtained photocopies of national identity cards of intending growers of tractor and later with collusion of tractor dealer all tractors had been sold in open market.

Deputy Director Agriculture Ghotki, Shahnawaz Shaikh stated this was the major game of corruption in which DG agriculture engineering and other higher officials were involved.

Manger Sindh Bank Mripur Mathelo, Ashfaque told that there was no record of demand draft which was deposited for tractors as according to him all records had been sent to area manger of bank at the same time.
