‘Ayesha Ahad’s allegations baseless’

LAHORE: Hamza Shehbaz’s spokesperson on Sunday rubbished the allegations levelled against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader by Ayesha Ahad.

In a statement, the spokesperson, Imran Ali Goraya, said the court had declared Hamza Shehbaz innocent and Ahad was attempting to malign the PML-N leader to retaliate to Ayesha Gulalai’s allegations against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and leader Naeemul Haque. According to Goraya, Ahad took the issue to the court in 2014 but she could not produce evidence against the PML-N leader. Later, the court dismissed her appeal, he said. Goraya maintained Ahad’s allegations were also meant to divert the media’s attention from Gulalai’s furore. Ayesha Ahad, along with PTI leader Firdous Ashiq Awan, recently addressed a press conference where she once again claimed that Hamza lied to her by saying he had divorced his wife before marrying Ayesha Ahad in 2010. Ayesha Ahad said she would present evidence against Hamza before the Election Commission of Pakistan. Moreover, she expressed displeasure over the fact that a panel was formed to probe Gulalai’s claims, but no such action was taken for her. Ayesha Ahad was referring to the special parliamentary committee to be formed over the motion passed in the National Assembly on Friday to investigate allegations levelled against Imran and Naeem by Gulalai.
