As many as 1,400 daily wage employees of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation have been terminated. Commissioner Quetta and Administrator of the Metropolitan Corporation, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat informed journalists on Saturday that several ghost employees were discovered due to which strict action was taken. He said that the daily wage employees who were becoming a financial burden on the institution have been immediately terminated.
He stated that the number of terminated employees is 1,400, which includes employees from sanitation, fire, and other departments. Ghost employees, who were not performing their duties, have been terminated, while only those employees in the fire department who were regularly performing their duties will be rehired by the Metropolitan Corporation, he affirmed.
The administrator further mentioned that any future recruitment will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, and relevant officers of the Metropolitan Corporation have been instructed not to issue salaries to any daily wage employees after August 16.
