KARACHI: The Anti encroachment police has demolished around 50 houses and 3 marriage lawns been illegally built by Land Mafia in operation against encroachments to evacuate government land. During the operation the police also has arrested 5 members of the land mafia’s group, meanwhile residents of the area protested against the operation and restored to throwing stones on Police team.
According to details around 25 member team of anti encroachment force with the help of PS Surjani reached Sector F Surjani Town and started operation to evacuate government land from the land mafia.
During the operation when AEF with the help of cranes started demolishing the illegally built houses members of the land mafia provoked residents of the area to stage protest against the team to halt the operation.
Residents of area gathered on the spot and initiated protest against AEF and threw stones on them after which AEF called area police which controlled the enraged protest after reaching in the area and arrested 5 members of land mafia and handed over them to AEF to register cases against them .
During the 3 hours long operation AEF team demolished 50 houses and 3 marriage lawns.
It is pertinent to mention that AEF was planning for an operation in the area for the last one week but members of land mafia with the help of local police of Surjani area were creating hurdles.
