Hindu community celebrates Raksha Bandhan in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Hindu Community celebrated religious festival Raksha Bandhan in Hyderabad. Sisters tied up a thread ‘Rakhi’ around wrist of their male members as brothers on the holy day.

Talking to Daily Times, Kiran Jevraj said that community celebrate Raksha Bandhan every year to strengthen relation of brother and sister and the day remind us that brother has to protect sister at every step of life.

Dr Sagar Kumar Anandani, elaborated that, ‘rakhi’ means band, it is celebrated in month of Saavan and day of ‘purinma’ every year.

On this occasion sisters tie rakhi or thread around brothers’ wrist and make wishes for them good health and wealth while brother also takes pledge to protect sisters throughout their life.
