How low can we go?

Author: Daily Times

Sir: It’s sad to witness the huge downfall of humanity and rise of male chauvinism in last few days, when a female politician built up huge courage to reproach another politician of harassment and taking wrong benefits of his status in the political party that they both were part of. In order to gain support from people of Pakistan, Ayesha Gulalai brought her matter publically which shockingly lead to a huge backlash.

Generally, benefit of doubt was always given to the female victim of harassment in such cases but oddly people that were highly offended by Gulalai’s statements against Imran khan, became violent. They not only defamed the lady politician by calling her character-less and immoral but they also degraded her sister who’s apolitical and international squash player.

The series of question that arises here is that, If Ayesha Gulalai accused any common man of harassment would the outrage against here would be the same, as it’s now? Would people demand her to prove herself honest by showing alleged messages, publically? Would she be threatened to act apologetically or else her house will be burned down?

People need to realise that it’s way more difficult for a female to blame a political leader who is widely popular and has tons of people to speak for him, it’s a matter of life or death for such woman who daringly step up to point the black sheep in political organizations.

Supporters of Imran Khan should apologize for being blind and for speaking ill in favor of their leader, who’s right now an accused harasser.
