ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Mayor Shaikh Ansar Aziz has barred officers from approaching his office directly. The mayor currently holds the temporary charge of the Capital Development Authority chairman in addition to his own duties. Along with dealing with the responsibilities of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad, he also heads the five wings of the CDA, including the Administration Wing, Finance Wing, Planning and Design Wing, Engineering Wing and Estate Management Wing. A recent notification issued by the CDA chairman’s director staff stated that the mayor had taken serious notice of the prevailing practice by officers of approaching his office directly without the knowledge of their section heads. “This practice should immediately be stopped. In future, the officers must submit their grievances or official matters through their concerned members or staff directors to the chairman to solicit perusal or approval,” the notification said. Sources told Daily Times that some of the directors had approaching the mayor’s office for the resolution of their grievances. “This annoyed some CDA Board members, who complained to Aziz,” sources said. The letter stated that disciplinary action would be taken against those who violated the directions.
