LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif offered his best wishes to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday on occasion of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s political rally from Islamabad to Lahore through Grand Trunk (GT) Road.

In messages on his Twitter account, Shehbaz said that his brother and former premier was inspired by his supporters to take such a step, further tweeting prayers for safety and triumph of Nawaz and his companions.

“It is people’s trust that inspires Nawaz Sharif.. May Allah keep my brother, my leader & all the participants of rally in His protection,” Shehbaz said in a tweet.

He further said in a second tweet that political parties have right to conduct rallies and engage with the public, terming it as a fundamental to the democratic process.

“Contact with masses is a fundamental right of every political party… It is linchpin of democratic order & oxygen for political parties,” he said.

Nawaz Sharif departed from Punjab House in Islamabad on Wednesday morning, with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, party ministers and other leaders present at the house to see him off.
