RAWALPINDI: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), media wing of the military, on Wednesday clarified that the tweet on 29th of last month regarding Dawn Leaks was not aimed at any government office or person.

The Pakistan Army “withdrew” a tweet by Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor which “rejected” Prime Minister House directives about the Dawn story inquiry.

In a clarification statement, it said recommendations as contained in Para 18 of the Inquiry Committee Report, duly approved by the Prime Minister, have been implemented, which has settled the Dawn leaks issue.

Accordingly, ISPR’s said Twitter post stands withdrawn and has become infructuous.

Pakistan Army has reiterated its firm commitment and continued resolve to uphold the constitution of Pakistan and support the democratic process.

DG, ISPR had rejected as ‘incomplete’ a notification from Prime Minister’s Office on Dawn Leaks. “The notification on Dawn Leaks is incomplete and not in line with recommendations by the inquiry board. Notification is rejected”, DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor wrote on microblogging site Twitter on April 29.

The tweet came minutes after the Prime Minister’s Office said that Nawaz Sharif had accepted the inquiry committee’s recommendations. There was no immediate reaction from the Prime Minister House over the rejection of its notification.

Further, the interior ministry on Wednesday, issued a notification claiming to have resolved the Dawn Leaks issue.
