KARACHI: A senior traffic police officer and his gunman were gunned down in Karachi’s Azizabad area in a targeted assault.

Azizabad DSP traffic Muhammad Hanif and his gunman Sultan were left critically injured after two gunmen opened fire on their vehicle in a busy market area of Azizabad and managed to flee from the site.

The injured were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed hospital but succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital.

According to the police, 18 bullets were fired by the killers in the attempt.

It is pertinent to mention here that quite a few traffic officials have been targeted by miscreants after the Rangers and police began the anti criminal Karachi operation in 2013.
