LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman and Asif Ali Zardari reached Bilawal House, Lahore on Tuesday. He summoned a meeting of PPP Punjab leaders to discuss the upcoming NA-120 by-election. He will also meet with party leaders during his stay in Lahore. Zardari will visit PPP leader Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed’s home to offer ‘fateha’ and express condolences over the death of his mother. PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira held a press conference at the PPP Model Town Office after Zardari’s arrival in Lahore. He said PPP would not allow the system to derail.

“Nawaz Sharif is now reacting like a stubborn child and threatening the SC after the Panama judgment. Now Nawaz Sharif wants to bring a change,” he said.

“After being disqualified, Sharif has suddenly remembered he wanted to provide homes to the poor people. What was he doing during the past four years? Billions of rupees have been wasted on failed projects such as ‘Sasti Roti’ and ‘Ashiana’ schemes. Please ask your younger brother Shahbaz Sharif where are the billions of rupees which were allocated for these schemes? The nation has seen your real face,” he said.

He said that the PML-N was still in power, but was acting as if its government had been toppled. “Nawaz Sharif is claiming that he has worked miracles in the country during the past four years. However, international institutes are telling a different story. Our exports and foreign reserves have fallen,” he said. Kaira said that PPP had fulfilled its promises after it came to power.
