JACOBABAD: An additional district and sessions’ judge (ADSJ) in Jacobabad cancelled the bail plea of Garhi Khairo DSP Abdul Majeed Abro; SHO Abdul Ahad Soomro and ASI Eijaz Ahmed Jakhrani and ordered that the officials be sent to jail for negligence, poor performance and failure to follow up on the murder case of Anila Dharpali.
In 2012, Anila had appeared in the city police station with a request to save her from her relatives, who wanted to kill for being declared kari. Instead of presenting her before a court of law, the police returned her to her relatives on the guarantee of a contractor Abdul Razzaq Jat.
Later, she went missing amid fears that she might have been killed by her relatives. The police registered a murder case but have since failed to recover the body. All the aforementioned police officials were found guilty in investigation.
Meanwhile, a computerised national identity card (CNIC) and bank accounts of Abdul Razzaque Jat have already been blocked and seized in connection with the murder case.
