Oil tanker overturns

KHAIRPUR: Speeding tanker carrying kerosene oil lost control and smashed onto the road side and overturned at National Highway near Naushahro Feroze on Sunday morning.

According to Naushahro Feroze police the oil tanker which was loaded with 60,000 litres of furnace oil overturned on National Highway near Sadhuja bus stop. It was on its way to a destination in Punjab from Karachi.

Naushahro Feroze police and Motorway police reached the spot and closed one side of the road for traffic while the police arrested the oil tanker driver Riaz Ali. It may be mentioned here that tanker accidents and oil spills on highways and roads have become a routine in recent months on the National Highway.

According to motorway police the main cause for oil tanker accidents is over speeding or drivers falling asleep at the wheel.
