UMERKOT: Sindh progressive committee Umerkot chapter took out a rally against forced disappearances of political and social activists in Sindh, in front of Samaro press club here on Sunday.

Rally was led by Damro Mal vice president Sindh Hari Committee and district organizer Sindh Progressive Committee, a joint venture of four parties including Sindh Communist Party, Awami Jhamoori Party, Jeay Sindh Mahaz and Awami Workers Party, accompanied by Mirza Ehsan Baig, Engineer Babu Lachhman and others. They were carrying banners and placards.

Damro Mal said a series of forced disappearance was started in Sindh for long time; the same practice has been resumed in Sindh, adding that scores of social and political workers have been picked up by law enforcers in Sindh in recent months.

No one knows the whereabouts of all these missing persons, their families have been put in a trouble, stress and they are running from pillar to post. All Human Rights organizations, Judiciary and politicians are playing the role of silent spectators. He recalled that constitution of Pakistan guarantee the protection of lives of citizens, but abduction like this way is terrorism. He said Punhal Sario who was peasant leader, who raised voice for missing persons was abducted. He is patient of diabetes and heart and is the only bread winner in his family. Each day bullet riddled bodies of Sindhis are sent.

Mirza Ehsan Baig said that a high level inquiry is needed on a war footing to find out the actual reasons behind increasing incidents of forced disappearance of common citizens, adding that if any one is really involved in anti-state activities he must be produced in a court and case should be registered against him.
