KAGHAN: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) betrayed his party by not following the Charter of Democracy.

“Present conflict is just for empowerment of Sharif family … there is no threat to system,” Bilawal told media. He said a debate should be held in the assembly on PML-N’s role in country’s politics but a ‘grand dialogue’ in the parliament is not an option.

Bilawal claimed that his party was still not stepping back from the Charter of Democracy, and asserted that PPP will make the next government. The parliament should complete its term and the upcoming elections must be held on time, he remarked.

The PPP chairman said his party was not provided a level-playing field during 2013 general elections amid terrorist threats while JI and the PTI were allowed to hold public meetings. He claimed a former chief justice of Supreme Court also wanted to remove Asif Ali Zardari from the political scene.

Bilawal said during PPP regime, action was taken against top leadership over ‘contempt of court’. He said the same law about contempt of court should apply now and those doing so should also be held accountable.

Asked about Imran Khan’s plans to hold public meetings in the PPP’s fort – Sindh – Bilawal said the PTI leader was welcome to hold meetings in the province and “we pray for his success.” However, he added, Imran Khan will cry if his party staged public meetings across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Regarding by-election in NA-120, the PPP Chairman serious rifts had emerged in Takht-e-Lahore.
