Gujranwala bar protests against LHC

GUJRANWALA: The District Bar Association observed a complete strike and held a rally against the Lahore High Court chief justice.

Hundreds of lawyers under the leadership of president district bar marched at Sialkot road and chanted slogans against chief justice. The protesters also burnt chief justice’s effigy. The protesters pressed the court to withdraw the arrest warrant of Multan bar president otherwise the strike will continue.

Separately, a security guard held a youth for quarelling with a cop at Sessions Court.

Ali Raza came there to meet his arrested friend Kashif. When he tried to meet Kashif a police official stopped him. Raza and police official exchanged harsh words and pushed one another while court security guard held Raza. He alleged that the police official asked for bribe.

Meanwhile, district administration has fixed the 11 sale points for sacrificial animals and issued a notification in this regard.

According to the notification in tehsil city timber market near Alam Chowk, Muaafiwala Chowk, Madni road near Coca Cola Factory, Slaughter House Sheikhupura road and Rajkot were fixed for sale points, in tehsil Sadar Aroop More was fixed, in tehsil Kamoki old Exchange road Ghala Mandi, in tehsil Nowshera Virkan Mattu Bhaike, in tehsil Wazirabad Taj gardens phase II near cardiology hospital, near police station G.T road Gakhar and opposite graveyard, Rasoolnagar road were fixed for sale and purchase of sacrificial animals.

Separately, CIA police have arrested two proclaimed offenders. Asif and Arif were ‘missing’ for the last 17 years.
