Suspect in Maulana Azam Tariq’s murder apprehended

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), on Thursday, held a suspect wanted for the murder of Maulana Azam Tariq from Islamabad airport, officials confirmed media.

Maulana Azam Tariq was killed on the outskirts of Islamabad in October 2003 on his return from Jhang. He was then a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Sabtain Kazmi, the suspect, was held from Islamabad airport, while he was planning to board a UK-bound flight.

Kazmi, a proclaimed offender in case FIR No 119/2003 of PS Golra Islamabad, was wanted for the murder of Maulana Azam Tariq, head of banned Sipah Sahaba Pakistan (SSP).
