KARACHI: As many as five kidnappers, belonging to the Brohi group were killed in an encounter with Malir police and the son of CM’s assistant was recovered safely from the Northern bypass area on Wednesday, the kidnappers had demanded ten million rupees in ransom, SSP Malir Rao Anwar has claimed.

On Monday at least five armed men kidnapped the young son of Ghulam Murtaza Baloch, a Pakistan Peoples Party’s lawmaker and special assistant to Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah at gunpoint from the Gandap area, an outskirt of city. At the initial stage of investigation the investigators concluded that the abductors have kidnapped the MPA’s son Hayat Baloch for ransom. SSP Malir Rao Anwar along with SHO Khan Nawaz and his police team cordoned off the area to recover the 20 year old Hayat Baloch early morning on Tuesday and prevent the group to transport Hayat Baloch into Baluchistan or towards interior Sindh from Karachi. “We traced down the group in northern bypass area where they had dumped Hayat Baloch in their hideout and had made several calls for ransom, at last they agreed to settle the matter for 10 million and were ready to release him,” Rao told Daily Times. Meanwhile the police traced the kidnappers in the area and tried to arrest them but they retaliated with heavy firing and in retaliation by Malir police, five kidnappers were killed on the spot while police have arrested their two women who were residing along them at the hideout, informed Rao Anwar. “The kidnappers belonged to the Brohi group and were involved in many cases of kidnapping, their bodies were shifted into hospital for legal formalities while the arrested women were being interrogated to bust their whole network,” Rao concluded. According to police Hayat was kidnapped near the Baqai Medical Hospital on Super Highway in Gandap Town on the night between Monday and Tuesday, when the abducted son of the MPA was traveling in his Premio car along with his cousin, Ikhlaq when he got kidnapped. Gandap City SHO Khan Nawaz said that at least five armed men on a car intercepted their vehicle and kidnapped them and later dropped Ikhlaq and took Hayat along with his car to an unknown location. The incident took place when Hayat had left his home at Malir Cantt and was travelling towards the Gandap City to visit someone.
