KARACHI: A police official was involved in the kidnapping of the son of CM’S special assistant since two out of five kidnappers have been identified on Thursday.

Hayat Baloch, son of Ghulam Murtaza Baloch, special assistant to the Sindh chief minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah was rescued after police gunned down five kidnappers near the Northern Bypass on Wednesday night.

Hayat Baloch was abducted from the Super Highway area late Monday night.

Rao Anwar, the SSP Malir and the incharge of the raiding party told Daily Times that one of the kidnappers was a police officer – Mukhtiar Ali -from Shikarpur.

“Until now only two out of the five kidnappers have been identified through questing the two arrested women who were rounded up from the hideout of the kidnappers after the shootout” Anwar said.

Mukhtiar was identified when police recovered his national identity card and his service card of Sindh police while the other kidnapper namely Kaloo Khan was identified by the detained women.

“Mukhtiar, belonging to Kandh Kot, was currently posted in Shikarpur head quarter base but was in Karachi from last few months”, SHO SITE Superhighway Anar Khan told.

SSP Rao Anwar, adding about the roll of police official in kidnapping further said that police was asserting his involvement in investigation and a letter has been sent to officials in Shikarpur base to gather further information.

“All the five dead bodies are still laying at the Eidhi Morgue but their families or heirs have not come up to receive them”, Anwar informed.

Anwar said the police had traced the victim through ground surveillance and technical assistance, adding that when the rescue team arrived on the site, kidnappers opened fire on them.

Meanwhile arrested women have passed on some key information about the whole network of the kidnappers and Malir police with the coordination of AVCC and other LEAs is working to trace their other companions.

“We have collected important information about the group that is mainly functioning in interior Sindh but has several hideouts in the areas of Baluchistan as well” Anwar further briefed.

It is not the first time that an official of Sindh police has been found involved with criminals , this trend remains a serious issue of concern for high ups of Sindh police.
