MANCHESTER: Manchester City director Txiki Begiristain confirmed on Thursday that deal to sign Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is impossible.
Talking to media, Begiristain denied City has any plans of paying £275 million buyout clause of the Argentine who is yet to sign a contract extension with Barcelona.
“Come on, it’s impossible. He will stay at Barcelona.” Txiki said.
Talking about AS Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe, City director said that the club is not planning on signing the 18-year-old as there is little time left before the transfer season ends.
“We are out of the race, it is impossible to do it with the time remaining. It will not happen, it is impossible. It’s not our job to do it today or tomorrow.” The director said.
Txiki, however, added that City will make moves for players if the management thinks it is necessary for the club, but remains satisfied with current outlook of the squad.
