ISLAMABAD: Election Comission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a final list of candidates on Saturday that will compete in NA-120 by-elections on September 17.
According to Returning Officer Muhammad Shahid, ECP has finalised schedule for the elections and assigned election symbols to the candidates. The officer further told that 44 candidates will contest for the elections, whereas 220 polling stations and 570 polling booths have been formed by the commission.
Among the prominent parties of the country, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) nominee Kulsoom Nawaz, Pakistan Tehreeke Insaf (PTI) nominee Dr Yasmin Rashid and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) nominee Faisal Meer will contest for the seat left vacant by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif after he was ousted by Supreme Court (SC) on July 28.
Biometric voting system would be introduced in elections within the constituency which houses 321,786 registered voters, according to ECP.
