Sir: Congo virus is counted among the deadly viruses owing to its high mortality rate. According to some experts, Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is caused by a tick-borne virus (Nairovirus) in the family Bunyaviridae that poses a serious threat to human life. Additionally, the clinical and initial symptoms of Congo virus include headache, high fever, back pain, joint pain, stomach pain, vomiting, red eyes, a flushed face and a red throat.
Above all, it is a matter of great concern that this disease is rapidly spreading in some rural areas of Balochistan such as Zhob, Kolowi, Dundar and Gashkoor. To date, people are of the view that they lack sufficient healthcare facilities. So, the condition remains pathetic. The incumbent government should spread awareness among the people and take solid steps to provide necessary healthcare facilities to the masses, especially those living in rural areas.
