CTD claims to have arrested target killer

KARACHI: The Counter-terrorism Department Sindh, on Saturday, has claimed to have arrested a target killer belonging to MQM-L who was involved in over a hundred cases of target killing from Qasba Colony area of Orangi Town and recovered huge cache of dumped weapons. Meanwhile eleven other criminal were also rounded up by police from various areas of the city.

In-charge Pakistan Based Terrorists Intelligence Group (PBTIG) of CTD Mazhar Mashwani told Daily Times that the arrested target killer Imran alias Mama has remained underground after 2013 until he was arrested on informer’s information from his hideout.

“He belongs to Mutahidda Qoumi Movement London’s group and has been involved over hundred cases of target killing in the areas of Qasba Colony and Orangi Town during 2010 to 2013 with his other companions namely Sufian alis Chaabi, Tair alias Lamba alias Mullah and Faisal Shehzad alias Tokri” .

Imran was rounded up a in midnight raid when team of CTD, on spy’s information raided near Qasba Colony, Shehzad Mor in the remit of Pirabad police station and recovered dumped weapons including five repeaters action pumps 12 bore, two rifles, one 8mm rifle, one KK and over 500 rounds of bullets.

” The suspect has confessed in his statement that after the death of MQM law-maker Raza Haider he with his other accomplices has been active in target killings of innocent people for several weeks in the areas of Pirabad, Orangi Town and Qasba Colony Katti Pahari and targeted dozens of innocent citizen in those days” Mazhar told.

CTD Intelligence SSP Omar Shahid Hamid said that the accused during the initial course of interrogation confessed to have killed and injured nearly 100 people including policemen.

Officials of counter terrorism department have been investigating the suspects and a procedure to collect data of those target killing cases from the relevant police stations has been initiated.

The forensic examination of the recovered weapons is being suggested by the CTD to ascertain the weapons used in terrorist’s attacks.

Apart from this, ten suspects were arrested from various areas of the city, who were involved in target-killing, street crimes, theft and drug peddling including two suspected robbers, namely Sher Khan and Ismail Sher who were arrested along with two pistols and the snatched cash and mobile phone from New Karachi area. Police officials have informed that one accused named Imran managed to escape under the cover of fire.

DSP Irshad Nabi Bhutto said that the suspects were involved in various cases of crimes. Cases have been registered against them while further investigation was underway.
