LAHORE: Sindh government has rejected the results of the census held earlier in 2017 by alleging it to be part of a conspiracy by the federal government against Sindh.
Sindh provincial minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro alleged on Monday that the federal government is conspiring against Sindh and the census results are a part of it. He further alleged that by showing less population of the province in 2017 census, the federal government intends to reduce the number of seats Sindh has in the national assembly.
“This move is aimed at reducing Sindh’s share in the National Finance Commission as well as in the national and provincial assembly seats and the job quota in federal government services,” Khuhro said.
Khuhro, on behalf of Pakistan People’s Party, rejected the census results and said that his party has already tried to bring to light the ‘unfair practices’ of the census staff in the past. According to Khuhro, PPP will raise this issue on various forums in the future and intends to call an all-parties conference to discuss it.
