The visit comes a day after the chief minister slashed roti and naan prices to Rs16 and Rs20, respectively.
During the visit, both of them inspected the rate list and interacted with the public to seek their opinion. “I will keep reviewing the price of bread myself,” the PML-N supremo told the public. Separately, Maryam Nawaz expressed indignation over long queues of patients outside the OPD when she suddenly reached Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Murree.
She reprimanded the MS for making patients wait and warned him of stern action. The chief minister visited various departments and wards of the hospital, including Emergency, Medical Ward, Gynaecology and Nursery. The chief minister expressed love and compassion for a child under treatment there, and directed the doctor to provide him with the best medical facilities. She also visited patients at the Emergency Ward one by one and prayed for their speedy recovery.
The chief minister interacted with the patients and their families and inquired them about facilities at the hospital. She also inquired them about the provision of free medicines and medical tests at the hospital. She inspected the PCU center, and reviewed treatment facilities there.
Meanwhile, Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir visited famous singer Ghulam Abbas and presented him a cheque of Rs1 million for his treatment on the directives of the chief minister.
He also conveyed good wishes of the chief minister to the singer.
Ghulam Abbas thanked Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her support. Separately, at least 14 people were arrested for selling roti and naan at higher rates.
According to details, Food Minister Punjab Bilal Yasin visited Shadman and Muslim Town areas on Tuesday to review the prices of roti and naan.
During the visit, some naan shops were also sealed for selling roti and naan at higher rates.
Talking to the media after the visit, he said that habitual criminals must be sent behind bars. The food minister reprimanded the additional deputy commissioner for poor monitoring and directed the administration to come out of their offices and play an effective role in the field for public relief.
Bilal Yasin said that the new prices have been notified after considering all the statistics and nobody will be allowed to create artificial inflation.
