Qadri writes to UN to deploy peace army in Myanmar

Author: Staff Report

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri Tuesday said that he had written a letter to the United Nation (UN) secretary-general, asking him to send peace army in Mynamar to stop genocide of Rohingya Muslims.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s secretariat, the PAT chief also announced to hold demonstration in 100 cities of the country against the killing of the Muslim community in Myanmar.

PAT General Secretary Khuram Nawaz Gandapur and Hassan Mohayyuddin and Husain Mohayyuddin, sons of Dr Qadri, were also present on the occasion. They, too, expressed their concern over the massacre of Rohingya Muslims.

Talking to the media, Dr Qadri said that UN had passed a law in which it was declared that the international community has had the right to intervene into the matters of any state if it failed to protect human rights. He said that the UN should intervene to protect the lives of Rohingya Muslims.

He appreciated the statement of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, urging international community to ensure protection of minority Muslims, and asserted that mere lip service would not serve the cause. He said that the government of Pakistan should summon Myanmar ambassador to record protest.

He said that Rohingya Muslims were being slaughtered like animals. He said around 90,000 Rohingya Muslims had been forced to migrate.

He urged the Muslim countries to establish a fund for the welfare of the Rohingya Muslims and called for severing diplomatic relations with Myanmar if its government did not stop the massacre of Muslims.

He alleged that the Myanmar government was directly involved in the killing of Muslim community.

The PAT chief also showed dissatisfaction with the verdict in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.

In connection with the incident of Model Town killings, he termed the Jati Umra (residence of Sharifs) a branch of Myanamar government.
