17 abducted from Khyber Agency

KHYBER AGENCY: As many as 17 tribesmen were kidnapped by unidentified militants from mountainous area of Enzar Naw, Tehsil Landi Kotal of Khyber Agency.

The family members said that a group of tribal people, mostly young ones, went for a picnic on Monday from where they were abducted and shifted to Afghanistan.

The abductees were residents of Abdulkhad and Gagra areas of Landi Kotal, sources informed.

Walyam Khan, an elder, said that seven members of his family were among the missing persons.

They were informed by a person who escaped from the captivity.

Landi Kotal Assistant Political Agent Niaz Muhammad while confirming the incident said that 17 locals were missing and they were striving hard to trace their whereabouts. A group of security personnel was dispatched to the scene to collect evidence, forces sources said.
