LAHORE: Popularly known as “Daughter of East”, the former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto remains a prominent figure in Pakistan. Upon the death of her father, the former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, she along with her mother Begum Nusrat Bhutto led the country back to democracy. In a patriarchal society, she broke the stereotype when she became the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan at the age of 35 in 1988. While some of her political opponents accused her of corruption, many hailed her as the “Iron Lady” who did not succumb to social pressure and gave her all for a better and democratic Pakistan. She was assassinated in 2007 and left a huge legacy behind.

Here is an infographic which gives a brief account of the tumultous political life of Benazir Bhutto.
