Issuance of birth, death certificates remains suspended in Rawalpindi UCs

RAWALPINDI: Birth and death certificates are not being issued in Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation for the last one month due to a lack of the special printing paper provided by NADRA.

The citizens are facing severe problems. The issuance of birth and death certificates has been lying pending in Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi. The record of deaths and births is also not being entered into NADRA records.

The citizens have to stand in long queues daily. On the other hand, union council staff has failed to deal with the citizens’ complaints.

According to sources, the matters related to transfer of property, education institutions admission forms, VISA requirements for going abroad have been inordinately delayed due to the issue.

Requesting anonymity, a NADRA official said that they were not sure when the special sheets would be provided. “We cannot give a definite timeframe,” the official said.

An official of the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation said that the staff were just waiting for the sheets to arrive from NADRA.

Car lifter: The Islamabad Anti Car lifting Cell (ACLC) on Friday arrested a car thief, Taslem alias Lal Kohistani.

Investigation SP Muhammad Hassan Iqbal constituted a team of ACLC, comprising SI Liaqat, ASIs Habibullah and Noorullah, for recovery of stolen vehicles.

The team arrested Tasleem, a resident of Mansehra.

Earlier, another car thief, Hassan Javed, had been arrested by Kohsar Police. Further investigation and recovery of stolen vehicles is underway.

SSP Kiani has announced commendation certificates and cash prizes for the team.

Thieves: Thieves stole valuables from a house in Westridge Police precincts on Friday. Bilal Tanveer, a resident of Westridge, lodged a complaint with the local police that thieves had stolen Rs 11,000 in cash, cell phones and other valuables from his home. Police have registered a case and started investigation.

Abducted: Two girls were abducted from Islamabad on Friday.

According to police, a 15-year-old girl was kidnapped from Wazirabad in Bahara Kahu Police precincts.

Nemat Jat, the girl’s relative, reported to police that unidentified kidnappers had abducted the girl.

In the second incident, Azhar Akhtar, a Bahria Town resident, lodged a complained with Lohi Bhir Police, accusing Bilal, Fahd and Masud Qureshi of abducting his daughter. Police have registered cases and started investigation.

Separately, a girl was abducted from Kahuta Police precinct. Ateequr Rehman, a resident of Kahuta, lodged a complaint with police that kidnappers have abducted his 16 year old sister from the local market.

He suspected that Sikander, Tauseef, Tauqir, Amjad and his wife could be behind the kidnapping.

Woman murdered: A man allegedly murdered his wife in Daultala Police precinct.

Muhammad Basharat, a nephew of victim, told police that Ali Raza used to have frequent quarrels with his wife. “On Friday, he hit her with an axe and killed her,” the complainant said. Police are looking for the suspect.

Youth drowns: A young boy drowned in Nullah Korang on Friday.

Police said Hafiz Sadees, a resident of Murree, was swimming in Nullah Korang along with his friends. “He drowned in deep water. After hectic efforts, his body was retrieved from the nullah,” police said.
