Corruption, Panama and iqama excuses to target Nawaz: Maryam

LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, daughter of ousted premier Nawaz Sharif, Saturday said that Lahoris had rejected the “conspiracy” against Nawaz Sharif by distancing themselves from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s Friday rally.

Addressing the trader’s convention in Abid Market in connection with the NA-120 by-poll campaign, Maryam claimed that the “verdict in the Panama Papers case was announced before the trial began”.

“Corruption, Panama and iqama are all excuses to target Nawaz Sharif,” she said.

She questioned the apex court’s July 28 judgement, saying: “When they could not find truth in allegations hurled against Nawaz Sharif they used iqama for his removal.”

She said that it was Nawaz Sharif who steered country out of power crisis. “People should reply conspirators by casting their vote in the favour of PML-N on September 17, as it will decide the future of Pakistan,” she added.

She said that the removal of Nawaz Sharif took stock market by surprise as 100-index, which became one of the most emerging markets in the tenure of Nawaz Sharif, dropped sharply.
