LAHORE: Punjab Assembly’s 31st session will be held today (Monday) at 2pm, which will be presided over by Speaker Rana Iqbal Khan.

The session is scheduled for the next 17 days. Leader of the House Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif wouldn’t participate in the opening session as he is in London.

As per the security plan, the assembly sources confirmed snipers would be deputed on rooftops to deal with any untoward situation while all roads leading to the assembly building would be closed for general public to secure the area.

Political pundits are giving much value to this session as it is the first session of the assembly after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif.

According to the sources in opposition parties, a meeting of the opposition parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) called by the PTI-backed Opposition Leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed will be held at his chamber before the session.
