Foreign minister Khawaja Asif leaves for Turkey

ISLAMABAD: Foreign minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif left for Turkey on Tuesday.

According to several sources, Khawaja Asif is being accompanied by National Security Advisor Nasser Khan Janjua and the minister is expected to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, prime minister and Turkey’s foreign minister and other senior officials.

Reports state the ties between Islamabad and Ankara and the situation in Afghanistan is going to be discussed during the meetings.

Earlier the foreign minister had said that US forces had failed in their efforts to restore peace in Afghanistan.
