Kaptaan treads on tiger’s tail

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan held an election campaign rally on Thursday.

Addressing a mammoth rally, Kaptaan said, “corrupt mafia” would be defeated on Sunday in NA-120 by-poll.

The rally started from Charing Cross and culminated at Data Darbar where the skipper prayed for his party’s victory. Imran led the rally atop a truck.

Addressing the rally, Kaptaan said the Sharifs had sent the development funds of the constituency NA-120 out of the country to build their property there.

He said the Sharifs were trying to get sympathy votes by making themselves innocents on the court’s decision.

Criticising the Sharifs, he said that they did not establish health facilities in the country despite sticking to power for more than three decades.

Imran said the PTI would emerge victorious on Sunday in the NA-120 by-polls and 30-year reign of corruption of the Sharifs will come to an end.

Separately, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Thursday announced support to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate in NA-120 by-election.

The announcement came after a meeting between Qadri and PTI Chairman Imran Khan him at the PAT secretariat in Model Town.

Addressing a press conference, Qadri said his party would fully support PTI’s Dr Yasmin Rashid who is an educated woman. He said Nawaz Sharif was not ousted on the issue of his Iqama but for his dishonesty that is exposed in the Panama Case.

He termed the resolution passed by the Punjab Assembly in favour of Nawaz Sharif as unconstitutional, adding that it could not be tabled in the House. He said that now voters had to decide either they wanted to elect the murderers or an educated woman in NA-120.

On the occasion, Kaptaan said the Election Commission of Pakistan’s role was partial, biased and against the PTI. He said he was stopped from running the election campaign while the opponents were given a free hand. He said Maryam Nawaz was acting as a deputy prime minister.
