ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected review petitions filed against its July 28 decision in Panama Papers Case by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his children and the former finance minister Ishaq Dar and stated that its disqualification orders still stand.

The SC bench, which had been hearing the review petitions for the last three days, assured that no compromise will be made on the provision of a fair trial and fundamental rights.

This judgement was reserved after the five-member bench heard the arguments put up by Nawaz Sharif’s representative, Khawaja Haris Ahmed.

The bench was headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and included the likes of Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed.

The petitioners had argued that the verdict was in violation of several laws.

Nawaz Sharif had filed three separate petitions in August in the SC to review and halt further implementation of the Panama papers verdict which resulted in his ouster.

The JIT pointed out failure on the part of the Sharif’s to produce the required information that would confirm their ‘known sources of income’, saying that prima facie, it amounted to saying that they were not able to reconcile their assets with their means of income.
