GUJRANWALA: Commissioner Captain (r) Muhammad Asif said that the Punjab government is paying full attention to improve emergency care services in the province, and in this regard Rescue 1122 is serving with a very impressive and state-of-the-art emergency response system.

He said the government had launched the Rescue 1122 service to provide efficient and effective rescue and transportation to the victims of accidents, emergencies and disasters. He was addressing as chief guest at a ceremony held by Rescue 1122 on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Amir Jaan, District Emergency Officer Muhammad Ummar and others were also present in the ceremony.

The event was held at the Chanda Qilla Rescue Centre, where some demonstrations were also arranged to prove that the relevant staff members were able to rescue victims in different disasters, including road accidents, earthquakes and floods.

Protest: Hundreds of protesters held rallies on Friday to condemn the crackdown on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. These peaceful rallies were spearheaded by the Jamaat Ahle Sunnat, Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith, Jamaat-e-Islami and other parties, while members of the civil society also joined the protests. The protesters holding banners against the Myanmar government chanted slogans, while speakers Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali, Maulana Muhammad Daud Rizvi, Furqan Aziz Butt and others called for an end to the genocide of Rohingya community and for Pakistan to break off relations with the government in Myanmar. They said that it was a human tragedy and the world must break its criminal silence. They also criticised Muslim countries over their silence on the Myanmar issue.

Accident: A man died in a road accident in the Rahwali area of Gujranwala. According to reports, victim Muzaffar was going on a motorcycle when a speeding car crushed him to death on GT Road. Rescue 1122 officials shifted the body to the DHQ Hospital while the Cantt police registered a case and started investigation.
