DADU: While addressing a gathering dedicated to the remembrance of those who lost their lives at the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD) in 1983, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh MPA Sajeela Leghari termed Bilawal Bhutto’s 16th September Jalsa at Dadu successful and thanked those who attended the event. She expressed confidence that the PPP would win the 2018 general elections and Bilawal would be the country’s next Prime Minister.

“The people of Dadu have always supported the PPP and democracy and made sacrifices during the MRD against General Zia-ul-Haq” said Leghari.

She referred to Dadu and Kachho as PPP strongholds and assured those present that the party had been paying attention to the issue’s faced by local people from the two areas, and that is why their gathering had such a large attendance.

Govt responsible for Khashkeli’s murder: SUP chairman: Sindh United Party (SUP) Chairman Jalal Mehmood Shah hailed the Sindh High Court’s (HC) suo-moto decision in the Tania Khashkeli murder case and urged the HC to provide speedy justice to Tania’s family.

Shah has said that teenage girl’s killing has put increasing crime rates and the Sindh government’s failures in the province on display.

Talking to journalists after expressing condolence to Tania’s family members’ at their home in Jhanghara-Bajara Town he said that the SUP was providing moral and legal support role to Tania’s family in their pursuit for justice.

Shah had previously demanded that the Sindh government arrest the alleged killer, Khan Nohani.

Demo condemns govt for failure to protect women: At a protest organized by the Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT), women party workers flayed the authorities for failing to arrest Tania Khashkeli’s alleged killer Chief Khan Nohani.

The protestors chanted slogans in favour of women’s rights and demanded that the government do more to protect women from barbaric acts like honour killing, acid throwing and forced marriage.

Sibyani Birhamani, Musrat Leghari, Sindho Mallah and other protestors said that the government had passed laws to protect women from such incidents but had failed to implement them.

While condemning Khashkeli’s murder, Birhmani said that incidents like these were all too common and that the government should abolish the Jirga system through legislation.
