ISLAMABAD: A group of parliamentarians and the chief of army staff on Monday reiterated their resolve to purge the country of extremism through a synergetic, whole-of-the-nation approach based on the principle of ‘collective potential and shared responsibility’, a statement issued by the military’s media wing said.

The development came during a meeting of a visiting delegation comprising members of defence committees of the Senate and National Assembly with Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the parliamentary members were given a detailed briefing on evolving security environment including situation on borders and Pakistan Army’s efforts for peace and security.
