Another resolution submitted in the Senate to postpone the election
Islamabad: (Web Desk) Another resolution to postpone the election has been submitted to the Senate Secretariat, the resolution has been submitted by Senator Hilalur Rehman.
The resolution states that severe cold and snowfall are preventing citizens from voting in a safe environment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, creating numerous challenges for candidates to conduct election campaigns.
The resolution further states that due to security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, candidates are afraid of terrorist attacks during the election campaign, feeling deprived among the voters and voters of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The election date in Khyber-Kakhtunkhwa is proving to be unsuitable, the general elections should be postponed to a suitable date instead of 8 February 2024.
It should be noted that even earlier, Hidayatullah, who was elected as an independent from FATA, had submitted a resolution in the Senate to postpone the election for 3 months due to security reasons.
Independent Senator Hidayatullah took a stand in the resolution that the country is currently facing security challenges, in view of which the general elections should be postponed for three months.
It should be noted that on January 5, 2024, the resolution of postponing the elections was approved by a majority vote in the Senate after the increasing incidents of terrorism in the country. Samina Mumtaz Zehri strongly opposed the resolution to postpone the election and said that suddenly the resolution was presented.
Muslim League-N Senator Afnanullah opposed the resolution, while PPP Senator Bahramand Tangi and Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Gardeep Singh supported it the first time and remained silent the second time.
