SHIKARPUR: A 20-year-old boy identified as Hamat Ali Marfani was shot dead in an apparent honour killing in the Ghulam Muhammad Marfani village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Jahan Waah Police Station.
Station House Officer (SHO) Sher Muhammad said that Ameer Ali aka Ameero shot Hamat and his own sister, aged 17 over suspicion of illicit relations and later managed to escape the scene.
The police shifted the body and injured to the District Headquarters Hospital for legal formalities after which the body was handed over to the deceased’s family. The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) 21/2017 but has been unable to arrest the accused.
Meanwhile, a woman identified as Khani, aged 50 was killed as a result of indiscriminate firing by the Jatoi group in the Abdul Kareem Kosh Jatoi village some 70 kilometers away from here. Khani’s family had been involved with a dispute over property with the Jatoi group.
The deceased woman’s family blocked a portion of the National Highway by keeping her body on the road while chanting slogans against her killers and demanded that the police take immediate action. They dispersed after the district administration intervened.
