Sir: A fire extinguisher is an active fire protection device, use to extinguish or control small fires, often in emergency. However, it is not intended to use on an out of control fire. Typically, a fire extinguisher consists of a hand held cylindrical pressure vessel containing an agent that can be discharged to extinguish a fire.

Fire extinguishers can be small but it is an important part of home fire safety plan. It can save lives and property by putting out a small fire or suppressing it until the fire services arrives. It is recommended to have at least one fire extinguisher on each floor of the homes. People doubt if they really need one, because fire extinguishers among the items in homes that hardly use, since it is useless without fire outbreak. However, having this device in homes is very important.

Install fire extinguishers in areas where fire is likely to break out like the combination of electric circuits, hot appliances, chimneys, fireplaces, and stoves are all obviously potential fire hazards. It is necessary to check periodically making sure all the fire extinguishers are fully charged. Every family member must know where the fire extinguisher is located and training must be given to each individual to use the equipment properly. If one can reach a fire extinguisher within 6 seconds of the start of the fire, then one can put out or control fire in its early stages. This quick action will not only prevent massive property damage, but will also save lives.

It is important to have fire extinguishers in our offices, vehicles and especially in our homes. Choosing a fire extinguisher can be a wise investment in order to better guard our self against a potential tragedy related to fire, be well informed.
