Customs foil mobile phone smuggling attempt worth Rs 15 mn at Lahore Airport

In a vigilant operation at Lahore Airport, customs officials successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of mobile phones, valued at over Rs 15 million.

The operation unfolded upon the arrival of Air Blue flight PA-413 originating from Sharjah to Lahore. During a routine baggage search, customs officials discovered a total of 65 mobile phones concealed within a passenger’s belongings. The recovered mobile devices, estimated to be worth more than Rs 15 million, raised immediate concerns over illegal smuggling activities. Subsequently, the individual responsible for carrying the illicit goods was apprehended by authorities, and an official First Information Report (FIR) was filed in connection with the incident.

As investigations continue, customs officials are diligently probing the circumstances surrounding the smuggling attempt. The interception of such a substantial quantity of mobile phones underscores the persistent efforts of authorities to curb illicit activities at the airport and maintain stringent security measures.
