Irtiza Hussain sparkles in 13th Pakistan Junior Golf Championship

MULTAN: The 13th Pakistan Junior Amateur Golf Championship is keeping young golfing artistic ones of our national golf scene totally involved and captivated in a competitive race that is likely to fetch them national honours and acclaim. In this national event, being contested at the beautiful par 72 Rumanza Golf Course in DHA Multan, the young one who stood out as a top performer was Mohammad Irtiza Hussain of Margalla Greens Golf Club on Saturday. At the conclusion of the second round, Irtiza Hussain was placed at an aggregate score of 143, one under par and in age group 16-21 he was one stroke ahead of a classy player Saad Habib Malik of Rumanza Golf Club. And as the proceedings move into the final phase, Irtiza will find Saad Habib a tough adversary and their fight for ultimate victory will be an encounter of nerves backed by faultless application of golfing technique and skills. Irtiza came up with two rounds impressive scores of 68 on first day and 75 in the second round yesterday. As for Saad Habib, his scores for two rounds were steady indeed, a par 72 on the first day and again a par 72 in the second round. Engrossing will be their contest during the final 18 holes on Sunday (today).

Others playing well in the age group 16-18 years were Shameer Majid of Defence Raya and M Darmal of MDN Club. Shameer was placed at a two-round aggregate score of 148, five strokes behind the leader and M Darmal was at 149. Another competitor Mekayl Majid was at 150. Little ones showing plentiful capability in age group 12 -16 years were Shayan Zia of PAF 1 and Sharaan Ali Khan of Rumanza Golf Club. Shayan Zia edged past his adversary Sharaan with a good round of yesterday. He occupied the top slot in this age group with an aggregate score of 152. Sharaan Ali Khan was at 153. Two strokes behind was Ahmed Ibrahim of Defence Raya at 155, M Rayan Ilyas of Lahore Garrison was at 156 and Musab Asif (Rawalpindi) was at 159.

Top performing girls were Humna Amjad in 16-21 years age bracket and Bushra Fatima in 12-16 years age range. The 13th Pakistan Junior Amateur Golf Championship is being regulated by Malik Kamran of Pakistan Golf Federation and Salman Sabir of Rumanza Golf Club.
