CM meets martyred ATF cop’s family; gives financial assistance

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met the widow and other family members of martyred constable Javed Iqbal of the Anti-Terrorism Force Punjab in Dera Ghazi Khan.

He paid rich tribute to the great sacrifice rendered by Javed Iqbal and presented a cheque of financial grant worth Rs 10 million to the widow. He also announced to give a house costing Rs 13.5 million to his widow and children. In addition to it, a plot measuring seven marlas would also be given to the family of the martyred constable. The chief minister announced to give a job to the son of the constable in the Police Department. Meanwhile, a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000 would be given for the transport and care of the family members. He said that the martyred cop’s widow would be given full salary till the date of his (Iqbal’s) retirement.

While talking to the family members, Shehbaz Sharif said that the family of the martyred constable would be given free treatment facilities and the educational expenses of his children would also be borne by the Punjab government. “Sorrow and grief can never be compensated, however, financial assistance to the family is the responsibility of the government, which will be fulfilled at every cost.”

He said that Anti-Terrorism Force had set up glowing examples in the war against terrorism and the martyrdom Javed Iqbal was part of it.

It may be mentioned that Javed Iqbal was gunned down by terrorists on August 31 while he was coming back to home after performing his duties. He collected important information about the terrorists and on the basis of the information, successful operations were conducted in which seven terrorists was killed and many others arrested.
