Police, Rangers conduct flag-march; vow to maintain peace in Muharram

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police along with contingents of Pakistan Rangers on Friday conducted a flag-march with an objective to maintain peace and tranquillity in the city during Muharram.

In line with the special directions of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Khalid Khattak, Operations SSP Sajid Kiani prepared a plan for the flag-march to counter any challenge and to maintain peace in the city.

In this regard, the flag-march was conducted under the supervision of Rural Zone SP Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer and I-Area Zone SP Liaqat Hayat Niazi.

All SDPOs and SHOs of Rural and Industrial Area Zone, officials of Pakistan Rangers, Islamabad Traffic Police, Police Commandos, Rescue 15 Police and patrolling officials participated in the flag-march.

The flag-march started from Pakistan Sports Complex passed through Dhokri Chowk to Rawal Dam Chowk to Shehzad Town to Tramaari Chowk to Lehtrar Road to Khanna Bridge to Koral Chowk to PWD Housing Society to Behria Town and back to Express Way to Kak Pul to Kahouta Road Imambargah Haidry Sihala and back to Imambargah Niazian back to Express Way to Sain Boota Darbar to Faizabad to I-8 Markaz to I-9 Markaz and Imambargah Jaferia to I-10 Markaz to Imambargah Moosa Kazim I-10/1 to Imambargah Baltistania Sector I-10/1 to Police Line Road to Kashmir Highway to Jhangi Sydan Imambargah Qadeemi to Imambargah Baitul Husain and Aabpara Chowk.

Islamabad Operations SSP Sajid Kiani said that Islamabad Police had ensured detailed security arrangements for Muharramul Harram. He said that police would accomplish responsibility in an efficient manner to ensure protection to lives and property of citizens.

The Islamabad SSP further said that the purpose of the flag-march was to show preparations of police and other law enforcement agencies during the Muhrramul Harram to counter any challenge and maintain peace in the city. He also directed all the SDPOs and the SHOs to make effective security arrangements in this regard in their respective areas. He added that Islamabad Police would maintain a close liaison with peace committees and organisers of Muharram Majalis and processions.
