KARACHI: The Managing Committee of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in its meeting held on Saturday unanimously elected all three office-bearers of the chamber for year 2017-18.

Muffasar Atta Malik, who has become the 25th president of the KCCI from the Businessmen Group, was elected unopposed to lead the KCCI affairs.

Meanwhile Abdul Basit was elected the KCCI senior vice president and M Rehan Hanif vice president.

Former KCCI president Siraj Kassam Teli congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and hoped that they would strive hard to improve the functioning of the KCCI and work diligently to resolve the issues being faced by business and industrial community.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Businessmen Group (BMG) has been constantly winning KCCI’s election for the last 20 years, of which the last 11 consecutive elections were won unopposed by the group, which clearly indicates the overwhelming support of the entire business and industrial community of Karachi.

According to a statement, “The BMG has undoubtedly succeeded in restoring the trust and confidence of the entire business and industrial community due to its transparent policy of ‘public service’ which was strictly followed by all office-bearers during their tenures under the guidelines of former president Siraj Kassam Teli.”

“Siraj Kassam Teli firmly believes and has been advising the same to office-bearers from time to time that anyone who climbs the stairs of the KCCI to seek help in resolving genuine issues must be fully assisted regardless of considering whether the individual approaching KCCI for assistance is its member or not,” the statement added.

The newly elected office bearers vowed to dedicatedly discharge their services up to the expectations of the KCCI members and the rest of the business and industrial community. They pledged to leave no stone unturned to achieve various objectives.

The newly elected office-bearers will assume charge on September27 at the 56th Annual General Meeting.
