West behind terrorism in Asia: Raza Rabbani

Author: Sanjay Mathrani

JAMSHORO: Addressing a one-day seminar organised by the University of Sindh, Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani called the Organisation of Islamic Countries dysfunctional and ineffectual at dealing with the Muslim world’s problems. He stated that Pakistan always responded promptly and vociferously against violence against any Muslim country or community, while getting tangled up in problems itself. He complained that when United States (US) President Donald Trump accused Pakistan of harbouring terrorists, no Muslim countries came to its defence.

He stated that incidents of terrorism were on the rise in Asia, and that these incidents were a conspiracy against the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He accused the US and other western countries of being behind these conspiracies, and said that they were also behind the ongoing violence against Myanmar’s Muslim community. He declared the western world hypocritical for championing human rights while working to destabilize Muslim countries.

“Kashmir has been bleeding for decades on end, Palestine has been a victim of the worst possible brutalities by Zionist forces and now human rights are being violated in Myanmar; but all along the world conscience has remained in an opted, deep and ignorant slumber”, he lamented. He said that west and especially the US had always given priority to its political and economic interests over humanitarian considerations and concerns.

Rabbani declared that the recent dispute between Qatar and other Gulf states and the earlier Arab springs were all a part of the greater US game orchestrated to gain monopoly over the world’s oil supply and to boost arms sales, as the American economy is driven by oil control and arms production. He appreciated the seminar and called it a worthy initiative and complimented the University of Sindh for organizing it. Speaking at the seminar, Senior Sindh Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro expressed regret that the Rohingya settlements in Karachi couldn’t be recognized and explained that it was because of their illegal immigrant status. He said that genocide in any form or place is condemnable and the international community should intervene in Myanmar.

Pro-Vice-Chancellors of various SU campuses, Deans of various faculties, academic heads, and key varsity officers, members of SU Syndicate, MPA Kulsoom Chandio, and Jamshoro District Administration Heads, SSP Jamshoro Irfan Bahadur, researchers, faculty, students and office bearers of selected bodies of SU were also present on this occasion.
