Sir: Diseases like hepatitis, malaria and typhoid are widespread in Pakistan. One of the major reasons they are so common is because common people don’t have any information regarding their prevention.
The rise of Chickungya and dengue fever are also warning signs that the country is in need of a program aimed at educating the populace about disease prevention. This can be done through public service messages broadcast through television, text messages and the internet. A program such as this could save thousands of lives every year and encourage people to take issues such as hygiene and littering seriously. The country could save millions on healthcare costs and areas ravaged by diseases could prosper.
