A writ petition has been filed against the Bahawalpur Zoo management over the death of a young man, who was killed by tigers.
In the petition filed in Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench, the Sher Bagh Zoo administration has been accused of indifference and inattention.
The LHC accepted the writ petition for hearing. The court sought a report from the zoo curator, Punjab chief secretary, and Bahawalpur RPO.
Lahore High Court (LHC) Bahawalpur Bench ordered to submit the report in 15 days.
The LHC issued notices to the Punjab government, Punjab IG, management zoo, and related institutions.
The petition filed argued for a judicial inquiry to understand the facts and identify those responsible as no legal action was taken on the death of a citizen in the Tiger forest.
The petitioner said that taking no legal action even after the post-mortem is a violation of the code of conduct as the main reason for Bilawal’s death was due to negligence of the security and safety measures of the bird staff.
“The judicial commission should investigate the sensitive issue under judicial supervision. The inquiry committee established by Commissioner Bahawalpur has not yet submitted any report and residential houses have been constructed on the park within the zoo for the wildlife employees,” the partition said.
